How WHOLE30 Changed My Life
I have never been happy with my weight or my looks. Man if I could shake the 16-year-old me I would be like LISTEN UP! After many years of yo-yoing and trying all these different types of workouts and exercise and nothing has ever worked.
I switched to Paleo in April and really saw amazing changes in the way I was looking and feeling. I was cutting out dairy and grains and avoiding a lot of sugar. At the end of May, I decided to take it up a notch and “enter” my first Whole30 challenge.
So what is Whole30? Whole30 is a program that will change your life in 30 days. The program has many details and layers; however at a top-level you are encouraged to eat REAL FOOD. “Eat meat, seafood, eggs, tons of vegetables, some fruit, and plenty of good fats from fruits, oils, nuts and seeds.”
What can’t you eat? Sugar, alcohol, grains, legumes, dairy and carrageenan. Also, do not try to re-create baked goods with “approved ingredients.” Oh, and you can’t weigh or measure yourself (the worst!)
The proof is in the pudding! In my 30 days I had the following changes:
– Lost 10 lbs
– Trimmed off 11 ½ inches
– Down two jean sizes
– Smaller shirt size (large to a medium)
– Bra size decreased by a 38 to a 34/36
And while losing the weight was satisfying to see on the scale the biggest things were the non-scale victories. My headaches have gone away (other than the ones caused by work), I am sleeping better and frankly, I feel amazing.
If you truly want to change your life, the power is inside of you. Just think of where you can be in 30 days and do it!
