TOP 5 TIPS TO TRAIN FOR A BIKINI COMPETITION
Participation in bikini competitions has been heating up and turning heads all across the country. We sat down with BurnThis Ambassador Erin Bailey, who gave us the scoop on what it takes to train for one of these elite competitions. Follow Erin’s fitness journey on her blog.
1. FIND A DEEPER MOTIVATION
Choosing to do a bikini competition, means you’re dedicating your life to getting into unbelievable shape. Don’t let that be your only motivation I keep reminding myself that I set out to achieve the impossible, and use this as inspiration to prove my own strength. Dig deep and find something that will push you when you’re waking up at 5:30AM for cardio before your leg day.
2. FIND A COACH YOU TRUST
Johnny Loreti was the best coach for me, and I’ve trusted and depended on him every step of the way. If you’re anything like me, you’ll blindly follow everything your coach says knowing that they’ll always have your best interest at heart. Competing is tough, but the right coach will make the process immensely better.
3. STICK TO THE PLAN
It’s easy to want to skip a workout or sneak in carbs when no one is looking. Hold yourself accountable and stick to your plan. Some days will be harder than others, but if this were easy, anyone would do it. Remember you signed up for a reason!
4. MAKE SURE YOU ENJOY TILAPIA!
It is high protein, low fat, you’re going to eat A LOT of it.
5. ENJOY THE JOURNEY
You’re going to learn so much about yourself. Your mental and physical strength will be tested and some days you might fail, but most days you will succeed. Listen to your body, and most importantly, enjoy the journey.
