5 Tips To Increase Your Fitness Motivation This Spring

Spring’s arrival means the air is warming, flowers are blooming—and summer is approaching. But, after a long winter, it’s sometimes difficult to find motivation to continue with your resolution to drop pounds, or just maintain healthy choices. So, we’ve come up with five tips to help keep you motivated through spring and beyond.

1. SWITCH UP OR REFRESH YOUR WORKOUT ROUTINE

We can lose motivation because we’re simply bored with routine. Take up a new activity, or, challenge yourself by slowly increasing repetitions or trying to achieve faster times.

2. TAKE YOUR WORKOUT OUTDOORS OR TO A NEW LOCATION

You don’t have to go to the gym to get an incredible workout. Trade the treadmill for a trail; swap free weight with your bodyweight; perform body circuits at a park or beach. There’s so much you can do to get a workout; get creative and have fun with it.

3. FIND A WORKOUT BUDDY OR JOIN A GROUP

Not everyone makes a good workout partner. Choose someone who’s at a similar level of fitness and will motivate you, rather than someone who will drag you down or be too competitive. Remember, this is your journey—your friend is there for support and encouragement.

4. CREATE MOTIVATIONAL REMINDERS

Post a motivational quote on your mirror or put a reminder to workout or make smart choices on your phone. If you’re more of a visual person, find a photo that speaks to you. Check the BurnThis App for instant inspiration and motivation from FitFam members.

5. SIGN UP FOR AN EVENT

You’ll feel as though you’re being held accountable just by registering. Even if it’s for fun and you aren’t trying to PR, you’ll still want to be ready for action. With a goal in mind like competition, you’ll be sure to stay focused.
