Secrets To Staying Fabulous & Fit For Fall

We are prepping for fall with tons of amazing insider tips from Tasha Ball, the Lifestyle Editor of FabFitFun, the women’s lifestyle media brand and go-to community for everything beauty, fashion, fitness, wellness, and beyond.  We literally couldn’t take notes fast enough as Tasha dished on her go-to products, must-follow inspirational influencers, and her gym bag must-haves.

Q: Tell us more about the story behind FabFitFun and what sets it apart?

A: FabFitFun started in 2010 as a daily newsletter giving women everything they need to kickstart their happy from the inside out. In 2013, we launched our first FabFitFun Box — a package of seasonal must-haves, hand-picked by the FFF team for our FFF ladies! From beauty products to the latest fitness trends and more, all of our premium products are full-sized, which sets us apart from other subscription services. Our members also get a little dose of everything — think beauty fashion, fitness, wellness, home, technology, and beyond! Our box is delivered four times a year for $49.99 and members get over $250 of glam goodies each season.

Q: We are always on the hunt for beauty products that provide a “quick fix” post workout. Any suggestions?

A: An absolute must-have is Vaseline Intensive Care Spray Moisturizer with Aloe. It’s spray-on lotion so it takes no time at all as you run out of the gym. The formula is non-greasy so you can switch into your work clothes without the stickiness of normal lotion.

I also swear by oil blotting sheets. Working out tends to stimulate the oil glands in my face, but these sheets do the trick to keep my face shine-free.

When it comes to hair, a leave-in conditioner works wonders post-workout. I’m ub-sessed with Gorge “I’ll Make You Look Amazing” Daily Spray. It repairs damaged strands, detangles, adds shine, and protects from heat if you’re planning to blow dry your locks. This is the best hair product if you’re planning to only throw one bottle into your gym bag.

Q: In your expert opinion, what is trending in beauty, wellness and fashion right now?

A: In beauty, the FabFitFun Team is always trying to use more products with all-natural ingredients, and we’re also big fans of finding out what is trendy in other countries. This summer we featured a Korean facial exfoliator sponge made of konjac vegetable fibers — it works like a charm!

We also love products that inspire you to be a better version of yourself! Our fall 2014 box included a thank you card set from Gramr Gratitude because we think writing and mailing letters is a lost art that is on its way back!

When it comes to fashion, products that give back are always in style. We make a point to team up with brands that support great causes. In winter 2013 we featured The Giving Keys, a company that employs homeless people to make beautiful necklaces out of recycled keys. We also worked with Half United, a jewelry company that donates part of their funds to feed hungry children all over the world.

Q: What are your go-to workouts?

A: I’m a huge fan of video, apps, and online workouts. The convenience of not having to go into the gym every day saves so much time that could be better spent shopping for shoes or catching up on my Orange Is The New Black addiction. I’m also really into using portable fitness equipment like the jump rope we created with CosmoBody for our summer box. We’ve got another really exciting piece of fitness equipment coming in our fall box that I’ve been testing out and seeing huge toning results from.

Q: What would we find in your gym bag?

A: First would be the Infuser Water Bottle by FabFitFun (pictured). It’s great for post-workout hydration! There’s a farmers market right by my gym where I get fresh fruit to fill my bottle with too. Then there would be the Everyday Wireless Speaker by FabFitFun, which keeps me motivated with tunes I can sync from my phone. Next would be my favorite pair of running shoes and a pair of Great Soles Gripping socks for barre classes. I also have a beauty bag, which has the essentials I mentioned earlier plus a few more picks like Inkling Scents Roll-On Perfume in Sultry (for a little post-workout refresher), a tube of waterproof mascara, and my favorite tarte Lipsurgence Lip Gloss to give my lips a little color when I leave the gym. (After all, you never know when a hot trainer will be walking in!)

Q:  Who do you follow for beauty and fitness inspiration?

A: Barefoot Blonde has the best hair in the game. Her braids are uh-mazing (I just perfected my fishtail, but I’m working on mastering her tutorials). For makeup, I turn to Hollie Forrest. She’s a gorgeous redhead who really knows her beauty products.

For fitness inspiration, The Tone It Up Girls are my fave. They’re very well-rounded and a source of constant body positivity that I love. Lauryn Evarts of The Skinny Confidential has some of my favorite tips for healthy living, and tons of DIY treatments and recipes that I can’t get enough of.

Q: FabFitFun brands you are crushing on right now (and why)…

A: I’ve loved Dermalogica for a long time. They’re all about skin health as opposed to beauty, and at FabFitFun we believe healthy is beautiful. BCBG is a favorite when it comes to fashion. They have a timeless yet affordable style, and their accessories are fabulous. Zoya is the only nail polish I’ve been wearing lately. Every polish is formaldehyde, toluene, and camphor-free, meaning it’s safe and non-toxic to keep my nails healthy and my mani on point!
