4 Quick & Easy “Wheys” To Jumpstart Your Protein Powder Relationship

Protein shakes are an extremely common pre- and/or post-workout meal. One scoop of protein powder mixed with 8 oz. of water can be delicious on its own, but if you are looking for new and creative ways to use your protein powder, you are not alone. Here are four quick and easy ways you can turn one scoop of protein powder into a post-recovery breakfast, a sexy snack, a decadent dessert, and a seductive bed-time craving swap.

Combine one scoop of protein powder with 1/2 a cup of cooked oats, 1/2 a banana, and a handful of raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries with a dash of cinnamon. No added sugar in this recipe! Your protein powder will give those plain oats a boost of big flavor and it will pack some serious protein into your morning meal. Oatmeal can easily be transported in a Tupperware container and the fresh fruit and natural flavor from the protein powder will satisfy your sweet tooth all morning.

Combine one scoop of protein powder with 6 oz. of nonfat plain Greek yogurt, 1/2 of a diced gala apple, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, and a handful of almonds. Smooth Greek yogurt blended with whey protein will provide you with a surge of energy and strength as well as keep you satisfied between meals.

Make your own frozen protein powder truffles! Repurpose your sexy snack from recipe 2 and transform your taste buds! Crush up pistachios and walnuts, and sprinkle into your blend of yogurt and protein powder. Divide the mixture into a nonstick ice cube tray, freeze overnight, and pop out a few protein-packed truffles for a decadent dessert during your mid-day slump.

Combine 1 scoop of protein powder with 6 oz. of cottage cheese, 1 tsp. of almond butter, and sliced strawberries. Cottage cheese contains casein which preserves muscle while you sleep and whey protein provides the essential elements to synthesize and repair muscle after an intense workout. Combining the two with a tad bit of healthy fat from the almond butter will provide you with a filling luscious bedtime snack. Strawberries add flavor, color, and essential vitamins as well!

There are hundreds of ways to blend your protein powder in new and creative ways. Try these recipes if you are looking for a quick protein fix (all these recipes take less than 5 minutes to assemble!) but if you have more time, experiment with baking and use your protein powder to make homemade bars or pancakes.
