The search for happiness is something we all strive for. To me, happiness is a matter of choice. We can control our emotions, perspective and actions. Therefore, happiness starts from within each of us. Life is about living, finding who you are and making discoveries. To me, that is the true beauty of life.
My name is Yasmeen and I am an American teenager living abroad. I have been moving to new counties every 4-6 years since I was 4 months old. I’ve lived in Algeria, China, Bahrain and now, India. While it is an adventure, the constant travel got to me at some point. This is when fitness became a major part of my life. It has been two years since I started my fitness journey.
In the beginning I was committed to weight loss only. Peoples’ comments messed with my head. I was working out constantly, I started losing weight, and I got addicted. I wanted to lose more weight even faster, so I cut food too. I was eating fewer than 800 calories a day and as a result my health was pretty messed up.
This past summer, I realized I needed to make positive changes. I now find myself discovering the true meaning of fitness. It’s not about losing weight – that can just be a part of the journey – but the main point of it is how fitness can help transform who you are. It’s about building your personality, having confidence and power, and eradicating weaknesses and fear. I have discovered a couple of tools that help me on my journey. I use Instagram and motivational speeches to help keep me inspired no matter where I am in the world.

This account posts videos of simple workouts that you can do. Watching someone demonstrate an exercise makes it very easy to learn.
Looking at these colorful smoothies is very inspiring and motivating. Knowing that you can just grab a bunch of fruits and veggies, blend them together and make a beautiful drink that is beneficial to your body is just perfection.
